Efficient Swimming Fundamentals Course #9. Efficient leg movement

6 de May de 2021 by Rafa Aledo

9.1 Efficient leg movement: Theory

We observe that the current Olympic champions use the 2, 4 and 6-beat kick in their competitions, but we see that regardless of this, there are movements that do not change, let’s see them.

The first thing we see is that the propulsion is exerted with the instep of the foot, placing it in a dancer’s position. We also see that the amplitude of leg movement is not greater than the greatest circumference of our trunk.

The movement of the legs, we have to be able to get it out of the hip rotation, something that when we run is in our first nature, but when swimming, we have to learn it When swimming, the hip rotation initiates the movement, transmitting kinetic energy to the knee, and the knee transmits it to the instep, as if it were a whip.
